The journey from the UK took around 20 hours! It was pretty rough and I'm not sure I would be up for driving that again in a hurry.
We had no issues with the journey thanks to our trusty Sat Nav! I don't know how we would have done without it to be honest. Driving through the night meant that we hit no traffic at all and so it was smooth sailing really. As dawn broke in Germany we drove into sleet and a really terrible side wind which was concerning and slowed us down a little, that could have made the remaining journey dreadful but it soon passed. Much like the other cars on the road!! I have never seen cars drive so fast! One minute your rear view mirror is clear, the next minute you have a car racing towards you and it seems very much like if you don't move they would smash into you! Unbelievable but amazingly enough...no middle lane hoggers!
We arrived at our new home around lunchtime. The house is pretty great, split over 4 floors, ground floor consists of storage and garage, 1st floor living area and terrace overlooking the garden, 2nd floor 3 bedrooms and bath followed by another 2 bedrooms and bathroom in the loft space! Its fairly modern and spacious so we couldn't ask for anything more really. The location is great too. Situated in what seems to be a pretty suburb of Brno in close proximity to bars, restaurants, parks and a few shops, the tram straight into town is just at the end of our road and provides excellent transport links all over Brno and at a small cost. Overall we are really pleased and plan on doing lots of exploring over the summer here.

We were invited out for dinner that first evening with Martins' colleagues. Keen to get a feel for the area we accepted. This was my first attempt at eating out gluten-free in Brno but not knowing any of the language and no idea how to get across my dietary needs to the staff I didn't really get off to the best start. The staff desperately tried to find another customer who spoke English to translate which was really kind of them, but I really didn't feel confident when they simply brought out a fried chicken breast. By this point I had decided I would just have my wine for dinner and hoped for better luck next time.
